In light of the recent shootings of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and others in Tuscon, Arizona this last week, a prayer vigil will be held on Thursday, January 13th at 7:00 pm at the First Unitarian Church, 160 North Third Street, San Jose. Sponsored by the Interfaith Council on Economics and Justice, the vigil will include Congressman Mike Honda, Cindy Chavez of Working Partnerships USA and other members of IFCJ.
The gathering will not only invite people to share in prayers for the victims and their families, but will call on those in public life to turn down the volume on violent and hostile rhetoric that has clouded debate in our nation and made it more difficult to work together to address the pressing needs of our communities.
The Interfaith Council on Economics and Justice is an association of faith leaders that educates and mobilizes the Santa Clara County religious community to support economic and social justice through social policy.
