“Green Action Day” at Zen Center

One of the features of the “Green Action Day” planned for this coming Saturday, October 24th, at the Chung Tai Zen Center in Sunnyvale will be a panel discussion by leaders from four traditions on the subject of  “Religion’s Approach to Environmental Ethics and Responsibility.”

Participants in the Interfaith Panel will be Ven. Jian Hu (Buddhist, Sunnyvale Zen Center ); Rev. Margo Tenold (Christian, Council of Churches of Santa Clara County); Shaikh Alaeddin Albakri (Muslim, Berkeley Masjid); and Rabbi Dana Magat (Jewish, Temple Emanu-El).

Also planned is a presentation on “Global Warming and Renewable Energy” by Dr. Diana Ma, a VP of SunPower Corp., Prayers of Blessing for the Earth, and a chance to strike the Ceremonial Bell at the Zen Center.

The event is part of the International Day of Climate Action, a global effort to raise people’s awareness about climate change issues and to engage them in efforts to address the concerns.

The day’s events are all free and open to the public.
