Bay Area Youth and Interfaith

Saturday, May 9, 2009, a group of some 50 Bay Area youth from Buddhist, Christian, Jewish and Muslim backgrounds came together to work on restoring a part of the Baylands Nature Preserve in Palo Alto. Working alongside one another, they had ample opportunities for conversation and developing connections with one another.

The project was sponsored by Days of Interfaith Youth Service, a local group inspired by the Interfaith Youth Core of Chicago. One attendee, Kevin Spencer, a member of Fellowship for Religious Encounter at Stanford University, commented that working together allows people to come together “for a common goal.” “They can do all this in the name of public service and let their guards down.”

Future projects include an Interfaith Youth Leadership Retreat, June 12th-14th, 2009, at Anubhuti Retreat Center in Novato and a Day of Service at the Beach on July 27th.
