Sometime on the 12th or 13th, the new moon will be sighted in North America, marking the end of the month of Ramadan, the beginning of the month of Shawwal, and the festival of Eid al-Fitr (the breaking of the fast). Eid is a three-day festival, celebrating the end of the fasting and wishing one another well.
The South Bay Islamic Association will be hosting their annual Eid gathering at the Santa Clara County fairgrounds, So. 7th Street and Tully Road on either Saturday or Sunday, depending on when the moon is sighted. Check their website for updated information.
To all our Muslim friends, Eid Mubarak (A blessed Eid)!
