March in Support of Burned Mosque in Antioch

Following the arson against the mosque in Antioch that resulted in $200,000 in damage, local religious and community groups are organizing a march in support of the Islamic Center of the East Bay. The march will take place on Sunday, September 23, and will begin at 1:00 p.m. outside the Antioch City Hall at 3rd and H streets and march to the burned mosque at 311 W. 18th St.

“We’re doing this as people of faith,” says Will McGarvey, pastor of Community Presbyterian Church in Pittsburg and vice president of the executive committee of the Interfaith Council. “We’re inviting people to wear their religious and ethnic clothing. We’re doing this as churches and as a way of living out our faith.”

What everyone is helping to do is a great way to bring peace in between different religions. The march is a great idea. and so is a great way of living out our faith.
