Could Genocide Happen Here?

Each year, the County of Santa Clara holds a commemoration of the Holocaust sometime near Yom HaShoah, the Day of the Holocaust (April 15th, this year). This year’s Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, 4:00- 5:00 pm at the County Government Center, Board Chambers, 70 W. Hedding St, San Jose.

In commemoration of the six million Jews who died during the Holocaust in Europe, along with millions of others– Gypsies, Homosexuals, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and many more– there will be music, a presentation by local high school students, a candle lighting ceremony, and a chance to talk with Holocaust survivors from our community.

The event is co-sponsored by County of Santa Clara Board of Supervisors, Santa Clara County Human Relations Commission, Silicon Valley Conference for Community and Justice (SVCCJ), The South Bay Holocaust Survivors Group, Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley, Jewish Community Relations Council of Silicon Valley (JCRC), Jewish Community Relations Council, Peninsula Region, and Cantors and Rabbis Association of Greater San Jose.
