The Gyuto Vajrayana Center is devoted to the practice of Tibetan Buddhism, which is centered around the monastery. As a branch of the Gyuto Tantric Monastic University in India, the center has six or seven monks in residence and is the only Tibetan Buddhist center in San Jose. Their activities include “regular Buddhist teachings, conducting initiations and empowerments by the resident teacher, hosting retreats, study sessions, funeral services, Tibetan language classes, and visiting local schools and communities.”
