Carry the Vision: Informational Meeting

For the past several years, the Carry the Vision conference has been one of the highlights of interfaith cooperation. Sponsored by the Center for Spiritual Enlightenment, City Councilman Dave Cortese”s office, Evergreen College the San Jose Sikh Gurdwara, and a coalition of local organizations and religious communities, the conference brings together people from across the Santa Clara Valley for reflection and action on the things that make for peace in our communities. The conference is scheduled for Saturday, April 21, 2007, 9:00 am- 5:00 pm at Evergreen College in East San Jose.

There will be a special gathering of community leaders on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at San Jose City Hall (room W119) at 7:00 pm. to explain about this local contribution to an international grassroots effort called A Season for Nonviolence.

Central to the upcoming conference will be a Youth Leadership Summit. Fifty youth (17 to 25) from the Bay Area will be selected through a rigorous nomination process to serve as delegates to the conference and will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join with other delegates from the East Coast in learning firsthand from family members of legendary leaders in the area of nonviolence including Arun Gandhi, Yolanda King, Paul Chavez, Richard Chavez, Dolores Huerta, and many others. Religious, school, and community leaders are invited to join the gathering and bring any interested staff and student body members. Light refreshments will be served.
