Hold the date of September 21, 2006! Following last year’s successful interfaith gathering to mark the convergence of sacred days in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam (Fasting and Feasting Together), plans are underway for another time of food, friendship, and enjoyment together.
Breaking Bread Together: An Interfaith Reunion will take place at the Circle of Palms in downtown San Jose, beginning at 6:00 pm on Thursday, September 21. Blessings from a number of religious traditions will call us together to share prayers, reflections, break bread together, and, most important, to make and renew friendships among our varied religious communities.SouthBay Interfaith, an ad-hoc interreligious group, would like to invite religious communities to become sponsoring or participating organizations.
Details on what is involved and application forms are available on the SouthBay Interfaith website. Groups indicating their intention to sponsor the event include the Cantor/Rabbinic Association of Greater San Jose, the Center for Spiritual Enlightenment, the Council of Churches of Santa Clara County, the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Jose, Foothill Presbyterian Church, Interfaith Space, Jewish Community Relations Councils of the Peninsula and Silicon Valley, The San Jose Stakes of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Silicon Valley Conference for Community and Justice, and the South Bay Islamic Association.
