The Resources for Peace in Traditional Religions

The Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue completed their colloquium on “Resources for Peace in Traditional Relgions” on Jan. 15. In their closing statement, the participants called for recognition of the way traditional religions remind us of the need for harmony in all of life, a communal life, rather than strict individualism, and a sense of relationship with the natural order that leads to better stewardship. These values are difficult to maintain in the face of globalization.

They encouraged further interreligious dialogue between Christianity and traditional religions, and see a need for intra-religious dialogue among members of the Church coming from traditional religious backgrounds.
